When You Stop Doing What Was Working

How I coached myself through business paralysis (and the one question that helped)

Hey there,

Do you ever stop doing something that was working well?

Maybe you got a few rejections. Maybe someone said no. And somehow those failures feel bigger than all your wins combined.

This happened to me this week.

My coaching client booked another session with me. Good news, right? But I barely noticed. I downplayed it like it was nothing special.

When I looked closer, I saw the pattern. My brain kept thinking about every rejection. Every "no thanks." Every ghosting.

But the successes? I forgot them completely.

The Spiral We Know Too Well

Maybe you've felt this:

You apply for jobs. Get a few rejections. Stop applying.

You post content. Low engagement. Stop checking.

You reach out to people. They're too busy. You retreat.

One day you're moving forward. Next week you're standing still, wondering what happened.

The Question That Changed Everything

I was stuck in that fog when I asked myself: "Wait, what was I actually doing when things were working?"

Funny how we forget what worked when we're busy feeling bad about what didn't.

When I had momentum, I was:

  • Talking to people about their real challenges

  • Having conversations without scripts

  • Offering help when it made sense

  • Moving forward even when unsure

Nothing fancy. I was just... doing it.

What This Means For You

Here's what I'm learning: We already know what works.

Fear just makes us forget.

The path forward isn't some new strategy. It's remembering what you did before doubt crept in.

This week: What were you doing when you had momentum? Before the rejection. Before the overthinking. When things felt possible.

Write it down. Just the facts of what you actually did.

Then pick one small piece to reclaim.
